Welcome to the new website home of Steve Hill - Here you will find all the information you need to know.
From a Motorsport mad teenager Steve started as he meant to go on with successes in autocross and single event rallies. Early results included several FTD,s in autocross in escorts and his first serious attempt at stage rallying resulted in winning the London Counties stage rally championship with a maximum score. Further successes followed on the Mintex National rally championship in 1990 winning the group N championship both years with numerous Gp N wins and overall podium places.
Steve decided he wanted a new challenge. By this point the Lancer 3, that was previously a group B car had been dusted off and prepared to enter Rallycross. The Lancer which had been fitted with a sequential gearbox competed as a standard rally car in its first Rallycross in 2005. Further engine developments were carried out throughout the season resulting in a fifth place finish for the 2006 British Championship.
To achieve a high ranking in the BRC Supercar class a new car had to be built. A new Lancer Evolution 9 was complete ready for the 2007 season. Despite a few early teething problems early on SHM developed the car into a 560BHP 570lbs/ft monster. With Steve driving as we all know the potential was there for success. With the Evo9 supercar taking its first win at Mondello Steve pushed on to finish an overall 4th in the 2007 British Rallycross Championship. Further development was carried out before the 2008 season, enabling the E9 to become both more reliable and powerful letting Steve push the car harder. Its true hard work does pay off, with several wins in the bag Steve finished the season just missing on the prestigious GB1 spot in finishing in second place. Keeping the car how it was Steve pushed on to finish an unlucky 3rd in the 2009 BRC.
Trying to secure that top spot SHM decided it was time to build and develop a new car. The Evo X, now with 550BHP and 600lbs/ft along with a time of 1.9 seconds to 60mph this 2010 Rallycross season should be an interesting one.
