Lydden wins 2010 European event

Lydden Hill Race Circuit has retained its place in the FIA European Rallycross Championship and will host the third round of the 2010 series over the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend, May 30-31.
The publication today of the calendar for next year’s championship is the latest success for Lydden Hill which recently won three year contracts to organise the MSA British Rallycross Championship and the British Rallycross Grand Prix.
A programme of improvements and updating at the Kent track helped Lydden to bring the European Rallycross Championship back to Britain after an absence of ten years and the success of that event, run over the Easter weekend, has paved the way for the circuit to retain a place in the 2010 calendar. Competition to host a championship round is now stiffer than ever and events in 12 different countries applied for a place in the 10-event calendar (events in Austria and Norway were rejected).

Irish start for 2010 British championship
The 2010 MSA British Rallycross Championship will start with a pair of events in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic over the weekend of March 6-7.
The championship, promoted by Lydden Hill Motorsport Club, will open at Nutts Corner in County Antrim on Saturday March 6, the first time the British championship has appeared at the venue since 2004. Round two will take place the following day at Mondello Park, County Kildare in the Irish Republic.
Between 1990 and 2003 the two events formed the same kind of double-header and were a popular part of the British championship. Improved road links in Ireland now make the 125 mile (205km) journey between the two venues easier than it was in the past.
The full calendar for the 2010 MSA British Rallycross Championship will be published in the next few weeks.
Winterseries takes in Mallory Park
The three-event Rallycross Winterseries promoted by Lydden Hill Motorsport Club will include a round on Mallory Park’s new Rallycross track.
The Winterseries will start at Lydden on November 28 with the second round again at the Kent circuit on January 2. The final will take place at Mallory Park in Leicestershire on February 14. To take advantage of the earlier permitted starting time, the two Lydden Hill events will run on Saturdays while the Mallory Park event takes place on a Sunday.
Further details of all events will be published at LyddenHill.co.uk when available.
* Events in the European and British championship are subject to official confirmation
